La Nuova Zelanda premia se stessa e un 2011 da ricordare

In una serata di gala la Nuova Zelanda ha premiato i suoi atleti migliori, ma non solo.
Ecco la lista completa dei Steinlager Award 2011 assegnati poche ore fa.

NZRU Age Grade Player of the Year – Sam Cane (Bay of Plenty, New Zealand Under 20)

Richard Crawshaw Memorial Sevens Player of the Year – Tim Mikkelson (Waikato, New Zealand Sevens)

NZRU Referee of the Year – Bryce Lawrence

NZRU Women’s Player of the Year – Fiao’o Fa’amausili (Auckland, Black Ferns)

Charles Monro Rugby Volunteer of the Year – Andy MacDonald (Canterbury)

Investec Super Rugby Player of the Year – Wyatt Crockett (Canterbury, Crusaders, All Blacks)

Tom French Memorial Maori Player of the Year – Piri Weepu – Whakatohea (Wellington, Hurricanes, All Blacks)

Heartland Championship Player of the Year – Jon Smyth (Wanganui, Heartland XV)

ITM Cup Player of the Year – Aaron Cruden (Manawatu)

Panchina all blacks, candidati scelti e posizioni chiuse

Chi doveva sapere è stato informato, gli altri devono rimandare i loro sogni di gloria al prossimo giro. La federazione neozelandese ha infatti annunciato che “applications have now closed for the position of All Blacks coach”.
Quante sono? Non si sa di preciso, ma la NZRU fa sapere che sono parecchie. “Several” è la parola usata.
In pole position c’è Steve Hansen, assistente del ct uscente Graham Henry, mentre il nome nuovo è Vern Cotter, attuale allenatore del Clermont. La scelta entro la fine dell’anno.

McCaw operato, di nuovo in campo tra 12 settimane

Alla fine la vite che gli era stata messa tempo fa – e che ora stava causando problemi – è stata tolta. Il capitano degli All Blacks campioni del mondo potrà riprendere la preparazione solo tra 12 settimane. Ciò significa che il terza linea salterà le prime fasi del Super Rugby 2012.
